The 29-kilometre Casterton-Coleraine Pipeline is fully operational, providing a greater security of supply and improved water quality for customers in Coleraine.
The Casterton-Coleraine Pipeline, a $4.37 million water transfer pipeline from the Casterton Water Treatment Plant to the township of Coleraine, was first announced by the Victorian Government and Wannon Water in February 2008. Work began in August 2008 and was completed in January 2009, with secondary works for the project completed in September 2009.
The Casterton-Coleraine Pipeline follows the alignment of the Glenelg Highway.
This pipeline successfully meets an undertaking from the Department of Human Services for Wannon Water to improve water quality to meet the Safe Drinking Water Act and Regulations and secure the water supply for Coleraine customers.

Water quality
Previously, the water supply for the Coleraine community had been sourced from Konongwootong Reservoir. This water supply was only chlorinated, resulting in variable water quality.
The new water supply for Coleraine is sourced from the Tullich borefield, which supplies Casterton. This supply source significantly increases the security of supply for Coleraine and provides a higher quality water supply.
