Wannon Water launches new community grants

03 November 2017

Wannon Water has launched a new community partnerships program known as The Ripple Effect.

The program, which offers grants of up to $5000, reflects the corporation’s vision of “going beyond water for strong communities”.

General Manager Community and Corporate Services Kellie King said The Ripple Effect aimed to foster partnerships between Wannon Water and community groups to achieve win-win outcomes.

“Wannon Water already has a sponsorship program in place for community events and that will continue,” Ms King said. “Groups are able to apply for merchandise such as refillable Choose Tap water bottles and prize packs, borrow water refill stations or portable water dispensers, and seek financial support of up to $500 for their events.

“Under The Ripple Effect, we’re introducing a new initiative, providing a limited number of annual partnership grants of up to $5000 to be matched through cash or in-kind support from the successful groups.

“We want to partner in projects that will contribute to the themes in Wannon Water’s Community Strategy, covering regional prosperity; education, training and volunteering; health and wellbeing; and the natural environment. Successful projects will be working on issues important to Wannon Water and will be of benefit to communities in our region,” Ms King said.

Not-for-profit, volunteer-based, community organisations who operate in the Wannon Water service area are eligible to apply. Applications for the 2017-18 grants closing on Tuesday 21 November 2017. Successful projects will be announced in early December.
