Are you looking for a great career and lifestyle? We are offering a scholarship of up to $20,000 to a local student studying civil engineering in 2024.
Our Engineering Scholarship has been highly successful in supporting local students through their studies and kick-starting their career with hands-on experience in our vibrant and dynamic region.
The scholarship consists of:
- $5,000 awarded annually towards the cost of university fees and study expenses;
- Vacation employment as an engineering student during your study;
- A minimum of two years' guaranteed post-graduate employment.

Eligibility
To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants need to:
- Live in (or their parent/guardians live in) our region;
- Planning to be or enrolled as a full-time student in a Civil Engineering course at a Victorian university in 2024; and
- Achieve an ATAR score which meets university requirements for a degree in Civil Engineering.
- Have an interest in a water industry career
Selection of applicants
Short-listed applicants will be required to undertake an interview with our selection panel. While academic achievement will be considered, it will not be the only basis of assessment. Criteria will include, but is not limited to:
- Interest in working in the water industry;
- Education results;
- Community involvement; and
- Other criteria set by the selection panel.
Scholarship conditions
As part of the scholarship, students need to:
- Have a desire to be employed within the water industry after graduation;
- Continue to obtain satisfactory grades in all subjects. Students are required to submit copies of their results for each year of study to Wannon Water for review;
- Stay enrolled in the same course after being awarded the scholarship;
- Continue to study on a full-time basis, apart from vacation periods;
- Submit a copy of their fourth year results at the end of each semester, including verification that they have met the requirements to obtain a degree in Civil Engineering;
- Undertake paid work experience at Wannon Water during university breaks if desired;
- Agree to two years' post graduate employment with Wannon Water including one rotation with Glenelg Hopkins Catchment Management Authority.
- Agree to the terms and conditions set out in the Wannon Water Scholarship Agreement (issued to the successful candidate)
Employment
Vacation employment
Vacation employment will be made available from the start of December until the end of February (approx. 12 weeks) and in the mid year breaks.
After graduation
We will offer the successful student a full-time engineering position within Wannon Water after graduating.
The position will primarily be working within either our Assets or Service Delivery departments based at our Warrnambool office. There may also be opportunities to work at other locations within our region.
