Report a fault or interruption

From time to time, unforeseen faults affect our water and sewer network and they can impact services to homes or businesses.

Burst water mains or large gushes of running water can be caused by things such as pipe or hydrant damage, roadwork, ageing pipes or ground conditions.

Reporting a burst

If you notice a burst water main on the road reserve or street, please report it to us day or night, any day of the year, on freecall 1300 926 666.

Once the burst is reported, it's logged in our central system and we send a team to assess the situation. The time it takes to resolve a problem can vary, depending on the size and location of the water main.

We thank our customers for their patience and understanding as we work to get things back up and running as quickly as possible.

Once the work is completed, we often need to flush the water mains to restore water quality. When the supply is restored, water may initially be discoloured or cloudy. If this is the case, please allow a tap to run for a minute or two until the water becomes clear.

Burst pipes on private property

If there's a problem or the pipes are damaged on your side of the water meter, you'll need to contact a licensed plumber to arrange for repair.

In an emergency you can stop the flow of water to your house by turning off the stop tap at your water meter. If you're unable to stop the flow of water by turning off the stop tap, or are unable to turn off the stop tap itself, call us on 1300 926 666.
