The clear water storage tank at the Dartmoor Water Treatment Plant is getting a refresh following a recent condition assessment. The tank’s cathodic protection system (which helps prevent the steel from rusting) is still working, but the assessment showed a service of the system would bring it back to full performance.
While we’re on site, we’ll also repaint the tank’s exterior and fit a new boot seal. The boot seal is a bit like a sock for the base of the tank – it stops water getting underneath and reduces the risk of corrosion.
There will be no impacts to Dartmoor’s water supply while this work is carried out.
