About the project

We’re working to return the area surrounding the Warrnambool Sewage Treatment Plant to a state that reflects the needs of the environment, user groups and the wider community.

The detail

A landscape plan has been developed in collaboration with all stakeholders, and this will guide the plant species and the plant zone layout. The plan includes space for mountain bike trails, and we’ll allow for these as we begin the first stage of revegetation.

We’re planning to start the first stage of planting 31,000 plants in early June, with a second stage of a further 16,000 plants planned for September.

Once complete, the revegetation project will not only re-establish the surrounding environment but also help to screen the plant from the wider area.
